WLD-224 - Pipe Welding 3 - Downhill (3 credits)

This course provides students with knowledge and skills to prepare for The American Petroleum Institute (API) downhill shielded metal-arc pipe welding process and certification. This process is employed by the Marcellus Shale industry to connect natural gas cross country transmission pipelines. The testing fee for the downhill shielded metal-arc pipe welding certification will be added to the tuition for this course. Students will also be introduced to the TIG Root Process on small diameter pipe. This process is used in power generation and nuclear industries, including nuclear Manufacturing.
