This course is designed to study medical financial reimbursement techniques related to accurate documentation and coding aspects of the medical practice. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge and skills essential to medical billing reimbursement procedures and payment issues related to diagnostic related groups. Familiarization with both physician and hospital billing is an integral part of the course. Analysis of cases involve understanding the explanation of benefits summary, completion of the UB92 and HCFA 1500 form, problem solving rejected medical claims, false claims, and Medicare/Medicaid regulation compliance issues.
