Elmer Haymon, PhD joined CCAC in 2001 as the assistant dean at the Braddock and Turtle Creek centers. In 2001, the facilities combined into one, the Braddock Hills center. In 2003, he became dean of student development at Allegheny campus, a position he held until January 2007, when he was named interim senior vice president, student and community services and CEO of Allegheny campus. In July 2008, he was named campus president–Allegheny campus, Homewood-Brushton center and Downtown center.

Dr. Haymon has a distinguished career in education serving at many secondary and higher education institutions including the Pittsburgh Public Schools, La Roche College, Tanama Valley Community College (Fairbanks, AK), the University of Alaska–Fairbanks, Wiley College (Marshall, TX) and Tuskegee University. Prior to his tenure with CCAC, Dr. Haymon was the director of guidance for the Woodland Hills School District. He has several awards and honors to his name including the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Award, presented in 1988 for outstanding service to the city of Fairbanks.

Dr. Haymon holds a PhD, MEd and EdS in Counselor Education from the University of Pittsburgh and a BA in Elementary Education from Shaw University. During his career, he has presented many papers on education and career development; his research interests include multicultural counseling, sports psychology, recruitment and retention of minorities and technical and career education.
