Global Studies

ALLEGHENY
Diploma (103)

This program is designed to provide the student with knowledge of global issues and of the dynamics of the globalization process from which those issues stem.  It would be a suitable accompaniment to a wide variety of majors and an enhancement to the credentials of those transferring to a four-year institution.  The program is multidisciplinary and flexible, with an appealing aspect of student self-design.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Describe how all the people face the same global challenges including their values, practices and traditions.
  2. Describe how different cultures have similar and different perspectives on economic, gender, health care, religious and political issues.
  3. Define the collective as well as personal responsibility for the environment on global and local levels.
  4. Describe the interconnectedness of global events and decisions: the interconnectedness of groups of people, nations and their governments in solving global problems.
  5. Define core civic values which cause socially responsible actions global and locally.
