The CCAC Board of Trustees held a special meeting Tuesday, July 5, to approve a negotiated agreement between the college and North Fayette Township that could help to finalize CCAC’s acquisition of the Siemens property in the western suburbs.
For some time, the college has sought to consolidate two of its centers - Airport West Center and Technology Center - into a larger site in the west. The Siemens building, located at 1000 McKee Road, would provide three times the space CCAC currently has at the Airport and Technology centers combined.
CCAC appealed to the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas when North Fayette Township denied CCAC’s request for a zoning change that would permit an educational facility in the Siemens building. Under the supervision of Judge Joe James, the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas negotiated an agreement between CCAC and the township to resolve the zoning issues. CCAC’s board approved the agreement on Tuesday, July 5. If North Fayette Township leaders vote to approve this agreement, CCAC can move forward with the final acquisition of the building.
CCAC’s senior leadership is working on a strategy to ensure a seamless transition of current and prospective Airport and Technology students to the new building.
Stay tuned for new developments.
