The Big Read in Pittsburgh is a month-long series of free outreach events designed to promote literacy, reading and open dialogue within our community.
This year's book is "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury.
The opening kickoff event will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh—Main Lecture Hall, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
The event will feature guest speaker Jonathan R. Eller, PhD, Director of the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Center for Ray Bradbury Studies, a dance performance, music, refreshments and more.
The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. The Big Read in Pittsburgh is a project of the CCAC One College...One Community initiative.
