The CCAC-Allegheny County Workforce Alliance is a strategic partnership designed to strengthen workforce development initiatives in the Pittsburgh region and surrounding areas. Through collaboration with a long list of regional partners, the Workforce Alliance is taking steps to close the loop in the workforce training cycle.
Local, state and federal government entities as well as community organizations, employers and potential employers in the Pittsburgh region who are looking for a trained, skilled workforce are included in the scope of this partnership. The Workforce Alliance’s involvement with the Labor-Management Clearinghouse provides quality information about industry training needs for entry level workers and data on outcomes from training to allow for ongoing program improvement. To the extent that the clearinghouse leads businesses and industries to invest more in training their workers, the Workforce Alliance, as a result, seeks to expand the market for CCAC programs, closing the loop in the workforce training cycle.
Three Key Objectives
There are six key joint activities for which the Workforce Alliance will have responsibility: establishing a Workforce Advisory Council; working with institutes of higher education and businesses to develop workforce training programs; accessing funding to promote or enhance programs; working closely with public and governmental officials to advance the goals of the alliance and promote its benefits to the region; serving on appropriate committees to provide an effective bridge to the community; and working where necessary to establish Centers of Excellence to offer training to incumbent and prospective workers.
