
PITTSBURGH—Ryan Fichter became the fourth golfer from the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) North campus to earn Individual State Medalist at the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association (PCAA) State Championship October 12 and 13 at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville, Pa. Fichter shot a two-day total of 145 (72-73) to defeat runner-up Luke Dempsey from Potomac State, who totaled a 148.
A North Hills graduate, Fitcher was the team’s number one player with a season average of 74. His low round of the season was at Pittsburgh National Golf Club, where he scored a two under par at 70.
Other CCAC golfers who have won the state championship include: Gene Walter (1992), Clayton Vervoorn (1994) and Ryan VanSickle (1995). Walter and VanSickle went on to become PGA professionals.
