Vanguard Diversity Awards

The Community College of Allegheny County will present the fifth annual Vanguard Diversity Awards in a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. June 6 in the Foerster Student Service Center on CCAC–Allegheny Campus, 808 Ridge Avenue, North Shore.

The Vanguard Diversity Awards are given annually to individuals, nonprofit organizations or businesses that have demonstrated exemplary leadership, vision or service in promoting diversity and inclusion in Allegheny County and the greater Pittsburgh area. Nominees are identified in three categories: Individual Trailblazer, College and Organizational.

Individual Trailblazer Awardee

Ron Alvarado

In recognition of his tireless efforts in diversifying the regional workforce and championing inclusion initiatives to increase employment opportunities for underrepresented populations.

College Awardees

Christopher W. Robinson
Assistant professor, Social Work, and Campus Diversity Officer, CCAC–South Campus
In recognition of his ongoing commitment to providing culturally diverse and relevant educational programs and events to the students and staff of CCAC–South Campus. His awareness of, and personal interest in, diversity and global issues has enabled him to serve as a strong role model and mentor to the students of CCAC–South Campus.

Director, Admissions & International Students, CCAC–Allegheny Campus
In recognition of her ongoing commitment, support and advocacy of international students at CCAC.

Organizational Awardees

Peoples Natural Gas
In recognition of the company’s efforts to build a diverse internal workforce and embrace a culture of teamwork and diversity. CCAC also recognizes Peoples’ vision of improving the quality of life for all communities through support of and partnership with community-based organizations and businesses. 

Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board (TRWIB)
In recognition of the board’s commitment to building a strong and skilled regional workforce. By providing comprehensive services of career development, training and job placement, TRWIB has been instrumental in assisting countless number of job seekers to find gainful and meaningful employment.
