Local Government Relations

The Community College of Allegheny County Local, County & State Government Relations & Special Projects office works closely with state and regional legislators and policy makers. As the institutional point of contact for the Mayor of Pittsburgh, City Council members and their staffs, the office is responsible for monitoring and evaluating proposed ordinances and resolutions on the community/municipal level for potential impact to the college. The office maintains a presence with the Local Government Academy and communicates with the Mayor’s office, Pittsburgh City Council and the Allegheny League of Municipalities as well as with local public agencies.

Mayor Ravenstahl Reaches Out to CCAC Graduates

In a new initiative, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is reaching out to graduates from CCAC and area colleges and universities in a personal letter extolling the benefits of staying and working in the Pittsburgh region. Mayor Ravenstahl writes, "Whether you choose to continue schooling, begin your career, or do both, your next step should be your best step. That's why I want you to consider staying in Pittsburgh." Four areas he highlights and connects to helpful web resources include Work, Live, Have Fun and Get Involved. Coordinating with CCAC's Local, County & State Government Relations & Special Projects office, the letter will become an important part of the resources CCAC provides its students as they prepare to graduate.
