Placement Test Preparation

In order to give new CCAC students a strong start to their college careers, The Math Cafés offer free Placement Test Preparation.

New students can visit a Math Café for an initial Placement Test Evaluation session.

What will happen during this session?

  • The Math Café facilitator will use software called PLATO to evaluate the student’s current skills.
  • The PLATO software will provide a custom learning plan based on the student’s current needs.
  • The Math Café facilitator will be available to answer questions the student has about the custom learning plan and PLATO.

Students can complete their learning plan using the PCs in the Math Cafés or they may prefer to use PLATO on their own computer (broadband internet access is necessary).

The Math Cafés are funded by generous grants from The Heinz Endowments and The R.K. Mellon Foundation.
