Overview of VRAP

Basic Eligibility

You may be eligible for VRAP if you are a veteran who:

• Is between the ages of 35 and 60 years old
• Is unemployed on the date that you apply
• Has received an other than dishonorable discharge
• Is not eligible for any other VA education benefit program
• Has not received VA compensation due to unemployment
• Is not enrolled in a federal or state job training program

You must maintain full-time student status and must be enrolled in a VA approved program of education offered by a community college or technical school leading to an Associate Degree, Non-College Degree or Certificate.

Basic Benefits

VRAP offers up to 12 months of assistance equal to the monthly full-time payment rate under the Montgomery GI Bill–Active Duty program, which is $1,564 effective October 1, 2012.
