This project is designed to provide an innovative program of remediation for students in writing and reading courses and other disciplines requiring the use of these skills. The aim of the project is to provide students with the ability to complete diplomas, certificate and associate degrees. Drop-in Assistance Centers called "Learning Commons" will be established at the four CCAC campuses. This program will provide students with facilitated writing and reading assistance through facilitators, English and reading faculty, professional tutors, and peer tutors. The Learning Commons are intended to facilitate successful learning outcomes in English and reading necessary for degree completion which will ultimately translate into sustainable employment in a regional job.
