PITTSBURGH—The Community College of Allegheny County was named to the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list by Victory Media, a global media outlet for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. This designation signifies that CCAC is among the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are ensuring the success of military service members, veterans and their spouses as students by creating a supportive on-campus environment.

“One of our missions at CCAC is to support active service members, veterans and their families by facilitating a transition from military service to college life,” said Dwight Boddorf, director of Veterans Services at CCAC. “As a college, we offer veterans a number of personalized services, including on-campus resources and guidance, assistance with VA educational benefits, work-study programs and student clubs. This designation demonstrates we are succeeding in our mission to support veterans and their families.”

More than 10,000 schools were considered for inclusion on the list. Through being named to the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list, CCAC joins the top one fifth of colleges, universities and trade schools that exhibit exceptional leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience.

Now in its fifth year, the Military Friendly Schools list is compiled through research and from surveys taken by schools approved for VA tuition funding. The full list and its methodology may be found at http://www.militaryfriendlyschools.com.
