finding articles

Two Types of Article Databases
Which article database to use depends upon your topic.

1. General Article Database

If so, start with one of the general article database. These cover a wide range of subjects and often index a mixture of popular and scholarly sources. This is often a good place to begin research. Examples of general databases and the kinds of articles they identify are:

MasterFILE Premier
Indexes articles from popular magazines on a range of topics from 1984 to the present. Most are full text.

Academic Search Premier
Indexes articles from magazines and scholarly journals, from 1975 to present. Most are full text.

Newspaper Source
Indexes full text articles from over 230 U.S. newspapers, from 1994 to present.
