CCAC South Campus Theatre presents “Othello”
PITTSBURGH—The Community College of Allegheny County South Campus Theatre will present “Othello” at 7:00 p.m. on August 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17. Food for Groundlings, a classical theatre company dedicated to the education, exposure and revitalization of Shakespeare in the Pittsburgh region, returns to the CCAC South Campus stage with a sprawling production of Shakespeare’s potent and poetic tragedy. Directed by Jonathan Heidenreich, the Bard’s timeless story of lies, love, wicked comedy and brutal emotion will be transported in setting (from Venice to the coasts of Norse Scandinavia) for a bold production unlike any other.
In addition to Heidenreich, other members of the crew include Rebecca Dawn, stage manager; Dave Flores and George Jaber, producers; and Tonya Lynn, fight director. Lynn is a co-founder of Brawling Bard Theater, a company focusing on reimagining classical theatrical works while providing opportunities for young actors to learn and perform stage combat.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and performances begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door (cash only). Concessions and merchandise vendors from local artists will be available each evening during the performance. Campus parking is free.
