CCAC Chief Facilities Officer Honored for Lifelong Contributions

James (J.B.) Messer, chief facilities officer for Community College of Allegheny County, has been awarded the 2016 Meritorious Service Award by APPA (Association of Physical Plant Administrators). The Meritorious Service Award is the highest award given by APPA for individual service in the field of facilities management for education institutions.

For the past two decades, Messer has demonstrated consistent leadership at the state, regional and international levels of APPA. Prior to coming to CCAC, he was the facilities director at Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC). Over the years he has held leadership roles on the boards of directors for the Oklahoma state chapter (OACUPPA), CAPPA, and APPA International. Messer was recognized along with two other award recipients on July 13 at the 2016 APPA Annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

To be eligible for nomination, individuals must have been an active member of APPA for a minimum of ten consecutive years; attended and participated in meetings and other functions at the international level; and demonstrated continued and distinguished service to the association.
