PITTSBURGH—Community College of Allegheny County’s West Hills Center will host Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The college will join thousands of businesses and schools across North America for the annual event, held to celebrate modern manufacturing and inspire the next generation of manufacturers. The event is open to the public and will include facility tours, manufacturer exhibits, robotics lab demonstrations and a panel discussion.

CCAC’s Mechatronics Technology program, touted by President Obama as “a model for the nation,” will be featured at the West Hills Center event. Current and prospective students and employers are encouraged to attend to learn more about the emerging field of mechatronics and the CCAC Mechatronics program, which is designed to provide modern manufacturing with the skilled workforce needed to operate a high-tech manufacturing facility. Attendees will be able to tour the facility, participate in hands-on demonstrations, see a humanoid robot in action, learn about educational options and talk to local employers about various job opportunities. The event will conclude with a panel discussion that will include manufacturers, CCAC students and faculty.
