Women's Resources
In Spring 2017, CCAC hosted its first Career Exploration Day: Women in Skilled Trades at the West Hills Center, sponsored by the Perkins Grant and ODEI with leadership from the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs. Four women's organizations from the greater Pittsburgh region joined students to share their services and speak to the unique experiences and challenges women face in the community college setting. These are valued community partners, and more information about how to get connected with these organizations can be found by contacting ODEI at 412.237.4430. The Center for Women helps women going through transitions-like divorce, separation, loss of a loved one, job transition, or returning to the workforce-to achieve and maintain financial independence. The CFW's programs and initiatives increase financial literacy, build career-related skills and connect women with mentoring and internship opportunities.
Pennsylvania Women Work provides free classes, mentorships, and other resources that help women across Pennsylvania find great jobs. We focus on the whole person to help women achieve their potential and overcome life obstacles so they can find lasting employment with a family-sustaining wage. Wherever you are on your career journey, we'll meet you there.
Need a car to get to work? We have the keys. The Ways to Work Transportation Loan program offers a solution by providing loans at an affordable interest rate to working individuals and families with less-than-perfect credit histories. The loan can be used to purchase a pre-owned vehicle or to repair a car.
Families Outside provides bus transportation services to Pennsylvania's State Correctional Institutions. This program helps to maintain the link between families and their incarcerated loved ones by providing low-cost transportation services.
The YWCA Greater Pittsburgh is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. We offer comprehensive services to struggling women and families including connecting them to affordable healthcare, affordable child care, supportive housing, legal and employment services, determining eligibility for benefits, free tax preparation, and financial assistance.
