The Community College of Allegheny County has received a Gold Seal from the All IN Campus Democracy Challenge for achieving a student voting rate between 40% and 49% in the 2018 midterm elections. The achievement is a result of college-wide efforts to promote voter registrations and participation at all CCAC campuses and centers.

Community College of Allegheny County English Professor Dr. Stephen Wells of Mt. Lebanon has received the prestigious 2020 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Recognition from the American Association of Community Colleges. This national award recognizes individuals who make a difference by demonstrating passion, showing a willingness to support students inside and outside of the classroom, participating in college committees, and going above and beyond what is required to ensure students are successful in their academic endeavors.

The Community College of Allegheny County will launch One College, One Community Reads! on Wednesday, March 4, at 6:00 p.m. at the CCAC South Campus Theatre. The public is invited to attend the kickoff of this literary initiative, which is designed to promote reading and open dialogue within the college and the wider community.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) has named CCAC Northwest Region President Dr. Evon Walters a 2020 recipient of the prestigious Paragon Award for New Presidents.

Community College of Allegheny County students Jacob Graleski of Beaver and Andrew Knez of Bridgeville have been recognized as Apprentice of the Year award winners by the German American Chamber of Commerce, Pittsburgh Chapter. The Apprentice of the Year Award is given to an apprentice who demonstrates extraordinary skills and abilities inside and outside of the classroom.

CCAC Culinary Arts students along with Associate Professor and Culinary Arts Program Coordinator Arthur Inzinga attended a preview party for members of the American Culinary Federation Culinary Team USA at Westmoreland County Community College last month.

PITTSBURGH—A group of 12 CCAC Honors students embarked on the adventure of a lifetime when they journeyed to India earlier this month for an 11-day international study tour. It was the third time the CCAC Honors program has traveled to India; the first trip took place in January 2016.

The Community College of Allegheny County’s South Campus Theatre will present the new musical “Normal-C” on Friday, January 17, at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 18, at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. The musical will be performed by the original cast of students from Baldwin High School, where it made its world debut in November. The compelling story centers around three special-needs teenagers who face a dilemma—do they sacrifice everything that makes them unique for a chance to be “normal?”
