Associate Professor of Health Information Technology Mandy Coligan

CCAC Associate Professor of Health Information Technology Mandy Coligan, MBA, RHIA, CPC, has been elected to serve as one of two at-large directors of the seven-member board of directors of the Pennsylvania Health Information Management Association (PHIMA) for a period of two years.

With 20 years of professional experience in the health information technology field, Coligan excels in modernizing and optimizing processes with creative data-driven decisions to lead organizations to succeed. She has been the recipient of several awards and was most recently recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM) for organizational strength, bringing innovation and industriousness to every position.

At CCAC, she developed curriculum to modernize the health information technology program to bring data analytics, machine learning and Electronic Health Record design into the CAHIIM-accredited classes, along with implementing certifications for risk-adjustment coding as part of the program.

At PHIMA, Coligan will oversee the student liaison and student activities. She will also coordinate vendor and member recognition activities and awards and provide designated support for the association's annual meeting.

PHIMA is a nonprofit organization whose membership consists of health information management professionals employed in hospitals and other health care settings, educational institutions and businesses throughout Pennsylvania. Members possess training in the principles of health information management and are certified and/or registered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). For more than 80 years, PHIMA has been a health care leader, providing education and professional development resources to health information professionals and students while advocating on behalf of patients and the entire health care ecosystem.
