About Civic Engagement
At the Community College of Allegheny County, we strive to provide students with a strong basis for active and participatory citizenship. Voting is, of course, central to our efforts. We are consistently working to provide registration information and opportunities, and to link students with a variety of electoral resources. Voting is, however, only the starting point.
Civic education at CCAC is also citizenship education. Students learn about the world and their place in it. They are exposed to a variety of problems and issues, which they learn to address using the skills and knowledge they develop at the college. Active citizenship involves participation. Civic education means providing opportunities for such participation, both on campus and in their communities.
ALL In Democracy Challenge
The ALL IN Democracy Challenge is a national nonpartisan initiative that encourages and supports higher education institutions in the United States to increase student voter participation and civic engagement. The organization collaborates with colleges and universities to develop action plans, set goals and track progress in promoting voter education, registration and turnout. By fostering a culture of civic engagement and responsibility, the ALL IN Democracy Challenge aims to empower students to become active and informed participants in the democratic process.
