Biography
Professor Allison Caveglia Barash began her teaching career while still in graduate school and has never looked back. With more than 40 years of teaching experience, most of it at CCAC, she finds teaching psychology a most gratifying career. A native New Yorker, she has also lived in California and Michigan, but settled in Pittsburgh in 1984. She has two children and three grandchildren. She is deeply entrenched in the 'Burgh and is an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. In addition to Psychology, her love of American history led her to co-found the Greater Pittsburgh Civil War Round Table in 2000. Her hobbies include reading (mostly non-fiction), dabbling in genealogy, and cross-stitch.

My most memorable CCAC experience (of which there are many) have to be when students tell me they plan to pursue a career in Psychology as a result of being in one of my classes. It is humbling to know that you have impacted someone's life in such a significant, life-changing way.
Psychology is such a dynamic field. It's always changing and it's relevant to everyone. Students seem to come to class with an interest in the subject matter. They can immediately apply many of the concepts to their own lives. I love the relevance and applicability. I also love learning from the students, many of whom are comfortable sharing their personal experiences and insights as they relate to the course material. Psychology is fun, varied, ever-changing, and never boring!
