Biography

Bobby Ficco Jr. is a full-time Biology faculty member at CCAC Allegheny Campus. He currently teaches BIO 110 (Introduction to Biology) and BIO 161 (Anatomy and Physiology I). Professor Ficco has worked at CCAC for 11 years and truly enjoys working with his students. He is always excited to hear about their academic progress and professional endeavors. His students are the inspiration and reason for his passion and joy in the teaching profession.

I planned a tribute to my deceased colleague Sandy Callan. The Student Government and I held a benefit drag show/lunch to help fund the Sandy Callan Student Opportunity Scholarship. I also built a garden, planted a tree, and put a picnic table in front of the KLI Science building to honor her memory. I am always so happy to see students outside enjoying the outdoor space when the weather is nice. I am also excited that our endowed scholarship is fully funded and we will be able to disperse it to many deserving recipients in the future.

I enjoy sharing my passion for teaching, energy and knowledge to help my students learn more about the world around them. I hope that they develop a newfound appreciation for the beautiful diversity and unity of life. We, as humans, are family and interconnected-we have one Earth, which we call home, that we are all responsible to care for and leave beautiful for generations to come.

I circumnavigated the globe with Semester at Sea (Spring 2000), visiting nine countries in three and a half months: Cuba, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, China and Japan.
