Only a few weeks into my first semester teaching I received an email of appreciation from one of my students. She was excited that she was able to apply what she learned in class to real life. She utilized this knowledge to confidently answer a question on a job interview and landed the job. This reinforced my choice to be in academia.

I love occupational therapy and the diversity of the field! Despite the setting of occupational therapy, the one thing that remains constant with occupational therapy is that there is always an opportunity to teach someone and make a difference in their life. I have learned that by teaching others the skills of occupational therapy, that I could make a difference in the lives of even more people.  I desire to teach my students skills that will not only provide them with an opportunity to obtain a professional degree, but also to teach them skills that will improve their personal lives as well.
