Biography
Professor Patrick Huth has been teaching Physics and Astronomy full-time at CCAC's Boyce Campus since 2008. He grew up in a small town along the Allegheny River in Armstrong County called Freeport, and still lives not far from there. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and has degrees in Physics, Astronomy and Science Education. Professor Huth's teaching career began in 1995 at Woodland Hills High School, where he taught Physics and Astronomy to juniors and seniors until 1999. On January 1, 2000, he began work as a NASA Aerospace Education Specialist at the Dryden Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base. He spent two years in California and three more at NASA's John Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. NASA provided some incredible experiences - it was a true "dream job." At the end of 2004 Professor Huth was hired by the Office of Naval Research to work in education programs at the Penn State University Electro-Optics Research Center in Freeport, PA. As much as he enjoyed working for the space program, he was very glad to be going home. He worked for the Navy until starting at CCAC in 2008, but will occasionally teach physics and electro-optics courses (part time) in the Physics Department at Penn State and at Indiana University of PA.

Sharing real-time telescope images with the CCAC community from Ravenna, Ohio during the total eclipse of the Sun on April 8, 2024.
I have been interested in astronomy since I was very young. I have also been fortunate to have several great role models, mentors and teachers in my life to guide me along my career path. As a result, I have had some incredible experiences, and I can't think of anything better than to be able to share them with students.
Prior to joining CCAC, I worked for NASA and for the Office of Naval Research.
