Biography

As an Associate Professor at Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), Rusty has been teaching and mentoring aspiring nurses for over four years. She has a Master’s Degree in Nursing Leadership and Administration from California University of Pennsylvania and a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) credential from the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) and Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB). Her mission is to provide quality education and guidance to the next generation of nurses and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities in the healthcare industry.

In addition to Rusty's academic role, she works as a Registered Nurse (RN) at St. Clair Health's Cardiac Cath Lab. She has over a decade of experience in nursing, with skills in patient safety, basic life support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and clinical research. Rusty has worked in areas of critical care, orthopedics and medical-surgical. She enjoys working with diverse multidisciplinary teams and applying evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction. Rusty is passionate about advancing her knowledge and skills in nursing and sharing them with CCAC students and colleagues.
