Dietetic Program Outcomes


The mission of the Dietetic Program is to provide students with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to function as competent entry-level Nutrition and Dietetic Technicians Registered and Certified Dietary Managers. In an effort to effectively accomplish this mission, the Dietetic Program has adopted the following philosophy:

  • Education is a process of continued self-development, enhancing and preserving individual dignity, self-concept, and technical competencies.
  • Students will be trained in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy, policies, and practices of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals (ANFP).
  • The Dietetic Program subscribes to the Professional Code of Ethics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Code of Ethics of the ANFP.
  • Dietetics is an applied science and requires classroom/didactic learning, as well as, professionally precepted field experience.
  • The educational process is enhanced by involvement of non-faculty dietetic professionals and professionals from related disciplines.
  • The Dietetic Program has a responsibility to provide the community with competent entry-level Nutrition and Dietetic Technicians Registered and Certified Dietary Managers. 

Program Missions & Goals

  1. Prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the registration exam
    • Program Objectives
      • At least 80% of the program students will complete program/degree requirements within 3 years (150% of the program length)
      • At least 60% of program graduates will sit for the CDR credentialing exam within one year of graduation
      • The program's one year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for nutrition dietetic technicians is at least 70%
      • At least 80% of program graduates responding to the graduate survey will believe they are competently prepared to meet the responsibilities of an entry level NDTR in their first position
  2. Prepare graduates to secure employment in dietetics or related field
    • Program Objectives 
      • Of graduates who seek employment, 70% are employed in dietetics or a related field within 12 months of graduation
      • Of graduates who seek employment in the dietetics field, employers will rate graduates with a score of 4 points or better on a 5-point employer survey rating scale
      • 70% of graduates will believe they have been well prepared by CCAC's Dietetic Technician Program curriculum/CCAC Career Development services to secure employment in dietetics or a related field 

 

Outcome Data

  • Employment of graduates includes both traditional and non-traditional workplaces that provide healthcare, nutrition, foodservice and wellness.
  • Responses from employers indicate satisfaction with our graduates, and area employers regularly and contact the program directly to inquire about the availability of graduates to meet their staffing needs.
  • Further details of outcome data measuring achievement of program objectives and Dietetic Technician exam pass rates are available to the public at any time upon request, from CCAC Institutional Research, and/or from the Dietetic Technician Program Director.

Program Completion Requirements

  • Complete all course requirements in the Dietetic Technician curriculum
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Maintain a least a C grade in all program courses
  • Achieve of score of 75% or better on the comprehensive exam given at the end of the first supervised practicum
  • Students who receive more than one (1) D or F grade in a DIT course will be dismissed from the Dietetics Program
  • Complete and submit a personal portfolio
