PITTSBURGH

The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) is partnering with Verizon and the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship to offer a free project-based STEM learning program. The Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers Program, designed for middle school students (grades 6-8), will take place June 27 to July 20 at CCAC's Allegheny campus.

"We are privileged to once again offer this program to students in our community. This partnership with Verizon is an opportunity to empower young students with STEM and entrepreneurship skills to help build the foundation for future success," said Dr. Vladimir St. Surin, CCAC Dean of Students for Student Engagement.

Participating students will receive mentorship, access to next-gen technology including 3D printing, augmented reality (AR) and robotics. Students will also engage in hands-on training connected to real-world challenges that help teach design thinking and social entrepreneurship.

The program, open to all middle school students in the region, begins with a four-week, in-person session at CCAC's Allegheny campus on June 27. Lunch for participating students will be provided.
