PITTSBURGH

The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) will host a grand re-opening of the Homewood-Brushton Center (701 N. Homewood Ave.) on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

"This event is to be a celebration of community, discovery and renewal," said Dr. Juel Smith, the center's executive director. "CCAC, through this facility, has so much to offer and we wanted to re-introduce residents of area neighborhoods to all the opportunities available."

The event includes an open house where attendees can tour the facility and the new Verizon Adult Learning Center to learn about CCAC programs, including the Verizon Community Forward program, and explore careers as a doula, barber or certified nursing assistant. Participants can also enroll in various classes including the free basic computer courses offered by Literacy Pittsburgh or our introduction to skilled trades classes. Representatives will be available to review grants and financial aid, transportation options, as well as community and health care resources.

Local food trucks will be on hand for meal purchases. Games and door prize giveaways, including an iPad and laptop, are planned. Complimentary haircuts from the barbering program will be provided and more. Walk-ins are welcome, but RSVPs are encouraged.
