About Landscape Management Apprenticeship Program


This 18-month training program teaches landscaping and design basics so students can successfully gain employment in the landscaping field. It is scheduled to start in the Spring of 2023 and includes 144 hours of in-person classroom training and 2,000 hours of on-the-job training facilitated by a skilled landscaping and design industry professional. Topics covered during the classroom portion of the training include how to safely use the tools of the trade; turf, plant and bed maintenance; plant taxonomy; pesticide safety; plant installation and design; life skills; and communication. Students will have an opportunity to apply the skills they have learned on an actual landscape project.

The classroom portion will run for 18 months, meeting on alternate Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Training will be held at CCAC's Braddock Hills Center, located in the Braddock Hills Shopping Center at 250 Yost Boulevard. The Braddock Hills Center is accessible by public transportation with free parking for those who drive.

The Landscape Management Apprenticeship Program provides:

  • 144 hours of in-person classroom instruction
  • 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training
  • Employment opportunities after successful completion of the training
  • A starting wage of $14 to $15 per hour with potential for periodic increases
  • Possible participation in employer gain-sharing plans

The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation may fund tuition for this two-semester, non-credit certificate program.
